After careful consideration, and based on guidance from the State of California, the California Department of Education, and the San Diego County Office of Education, the Sweetwater Union High School District, along with all other public school districts in San Diego County, will be closing all schools and cancelling all school-related activities as of Monday, March 16, 2020 through Friday, April 3, 2020 . Please note that today, March 13, schools will be operating as scheduled and it will be business as usual. This includes after school programs and athletics scheduled for today. Joint information will be coming from all of the districts in South County in the coming hours and over the next several days. This will be a Recruitment event, which will consist of the SeaWorld/Aquatica staff presenting to students about their Shallow Water Lifeguard job opportunity at Aquatica Water Park in Chula Vista, including the online application process and interview tips and preparation. Click here for information on SUHSD’s plan Standard | 03.02.20 Spirit Week Starting Next Week 3/9 Standard | 02.19.20 Dangers of Vaping Presentation Free presentation by Kaley Kantor, Health Advocacy Specialist at FULSToP (Families Uniting Locally to Stop Tobacco Proliferation), a state-funded tobacco control program that works in conjunction with the Nile Sisters Development Initiative in San Diego. Presentation is aimed at addressing the harms of vaping in youth populations. The presentation addresses the recent surge in youth participation in electronic smoking, and how young people, and adults are affected by tobacco’s targeting strategies. When: March 4, 2020 at 5:30pm Where: Lemon Grove Branch Library, 3001 School Lane, Lemon Grove, CA. *The presentation itself will be in Spanish, however, we will be providing English translation to those who will need it.
